Dissertação de mestrado integrado em Engenharia InformáticaThe present document identifies and details the research and development held under the scope of a MSc Thesis pertaining to the scientific area of pedagogic tools for teaching support, ontolo gies and learning resources. This masters thesis in Informatics Engineering was developed in the University of Minho, Braga. The purpose of the project is to study the learning process of adults and how it connects to Learn ing Resources (LRs) in order to understand if a learning resource used to teach Computational Thinking (CT) to children, is suitable for adult learners. This approach ought to take into account adult learning theory to set its requirements, as well as CT principles and learning resources classification. To this end, an approach to the Adequacy of Learning Resources in Adult Education was created which comprises the ontology OntoAL that describes in detail the domain of Adult Learning (AL) including the theory of AL and a classification of both the adult learner and the learning resources. This ontology was developed in OntoDL and Prolog. In addition, we analyze the experiment conducted as part of the validation of this approach and the OntoAL ontology. Therefore, in this document, it is presented the state of the art pertaining to this field, exploring the concepts of learning resources, computational thinking, ontologies and adult learning and education. Furthermore, it is rendered an introduction of the subject and the project, detailing the context of the problem, the objectives to be accomplished and the research hypothesis of said thesis. Next, it is presented the state of the art regarding Computational Thinking, Adult Learning and Education, Ontologies and Learning Resources. Thereafter, it is put forward the work proposal. Then it is introduced the OntoAL ontology in both OntoDL and Prolog (detailing the process of its development and the choices made), the questionnaires that were created as well as the analysis of the responses that we obtained. Lastly, there are listed the conclusions and the future work.O presente documento identifica e detalha a investigação e desenvolvimento realizados no âmbito de uma tese de mestrado relativa à área científica de ferramentas pedagógicas de apoio ao ensino, ontologias e recursos educativos. The aim of this study is to assess the comparison of answers supplied in a task of autobiographical memory between a group of subjects with suicidal behaviours and a group of subjects without suicidal behaviour, in way to understand if there would be differences in the process of evocation of these memories. For that we used two instruments of selfevaluation( BDI e STAI), another one to control the verbal level of the subjects, and a task of autobiographical memories. Our sample was constituted by 30 subjects, 15 with suicidal behaviours and other 15 without this type of behaviour. The obtained results allowed us to conclude that: (a) the group with suicidal behaviours evokes more negative memories than positive (p=0,000); (b) the group of subjects with suicidal behaviours evokes more negative memories when the word stimulus is negative in comparison when the word stimulus is positive or neuter (p=0,001); (c) the group with suicidal behaviours presents a significantly superior evocation of categorical memories of what extended (p=0,000); and (d) the group of subjects with suicidal behaviours evokes significantly a bigger number of categorical memories when compared to the group without suicidal behaviours (p=0,000). On basis of the obtained results, we confirmed that exists in the group with suicidal behaviours an slant of the autobiographical memories, at structural level, with bigger evocation of categorical memories, and in terms of valence, presenting a processing and evocation of memories mainly of negative content

To assess the effects of working memory training (WMT) on depressive symptoms and frontal alpha asymmetry of young adults with moderate-severe depression. : 30 participants were randomly allocated to the WMT or control groups. Two subjects dropped out and one participant was excluded from EEG analysis. The WMT group completed 5 sessions of automatically adjusted n-back training (starting from 2-back) and the control group only performed 1-back trials. Main outcome measures were self reported depressive symptoms and frontal alpha asymmetry (pre- and post-training). There was a significant time*group interaction for self-reported depression (p = .047, ηp² = .144) and F4-F3 alpha asymmetry (p = .043, ηp² = .153). Post-hoc analysis revealed significant improvements in depression on the WMT group (p < .001) and non-significant findings regarding F4-F3 alpha asymmetry. There was no significant interaction for F8-F7 alpha asymmetry (p = .115, ηp² = .096). WMT may be an effective tool to reduce depressive symptoms. Frontal alpha asymmetry should be explored as a neurophysiological outcome measure of cognitive training efficacy.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Diets consisted of 32 % bulk protein and kcal/kg of digestible energy. Fish were fed four daily meals ad libitum, during 60 days. Weight gain (WG), meal consumption (MC), apparent feed conversion (AFC), protein efficiency rate (PER), and survivability rate were assessed. No significant negative effects of organic acids levels were found on MC (X = 14.3 g), AFC (X = 1.24) and PER (X = 2.55). Quadratics effects (p < 0.08) of organic acid levels were recorded on WG, which increased up to 0.043 %. Level of organic acids in diets of Nile tilapia reverted fingerlings increased up to 0.043%

Optimization of zirconia surface textured designs using Nd:Yag laser for biomedical applications

    Get PDF
The development of surface textured designs has influence in primary stability of surgically placed implants since a textured surface allows to firmer mechanical link to the surrounding tissue. Laser technology has been investigated to develop new surface designs on green zirconia compacts by cold pressing. Nd:Yag laser were used to produce several strategies and different laser parameters (laser power, speed and laser passages) were tested to evaluate their impact on cavities geometry and depth. The surface texture designs were analysed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and regular geometries such as cavities or pillars were observed. The distance between lines have a strong impact on texturing quality and should be combined with optimum power and speed conditions. Regarding the optimized conditions, several surface textured patterns were created in both green and sintered zirconia compacts. This study allowed to conclude that only some texturing strategies are suitable to obtain high quality surface textured patterns. Otherwise, the remaining strategies are potential solutions for obtaining high quality machined structures (laser does not machine cavities but crosses the entire bulk). High strength zirconia scaffolds were machined by laser and CNC machining technologies and the two promising technologies were compared. This work is supported by FCT (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia) through the grant SFRH/BD/148031/2019, the project UIDB/04436/2020 and UIDP/04436/2020
